Eight state endowment lots in Coolin on the southern end of Priest Lake are set to be auctioned off on Aug. 23.
The Idaho Department of Lands will be holding the auction starting at 10:30 a.m. (PST) at the Best Western – Coeur d’Alene Inn 506 W. Appleway Avenue in Coeur d’Alene.
Six of the lots are currently leased and two are unleased, according to the IDL, and all six lots have cabins on them. The agency stated that current leaseholders have applied to participate in the auction, and “if the high bid is from someone other than the current leaseholder, the winning bidder must pay the leaseholder the appraised value of the home and personal property on the land at the time of the auction.”
On the unleased lot, personal property is included in the appraised value of the lot. One of the unleased lots has a cabin that is owned by the endowment.
Land is held in public trust for Public Schools beneficiaries by the IDL. Cabins and other improvements on each lot is property of the leaseholders.
IDL stated the lots are appraised at $10.4 million in total.
The State Board of Land Commissioners voted previously to auction the lots over a period of time rather than continuing to lease them. Auctions on the lots on Priest Lake and Payette Lake will continue until 2039.
The eight lots being auctioned on Aug. 23 are all in Coolin and are located at:
Payments due at auction are listed on each web page along with more details on each property.
