At the heart of the Girl Scouts of Silver Sage mission is a deep dedication to giving young women the tools they need to be successful and thriving citizens. As the preeminent leadership development organization for girls, the organization provides a safe place for them to discover their unique personalities, gifts and talents, connect with others, and take action to create a stronger Idaho — and world.

“Our commitment to elevating women and girls is our overarching guiding principle and the reason that Girl Scouts exists,” shared Kizmet Beasley in a nomination form.

At the Girl Scouts of Silver Sage, 29 out of 30 employees are women. Women volunteers also make up a big majority of the organization serving as troop leaders, mentors and facilitators. The organization offers skill-building workshops for volunteers, offers council events and committees to connect women with peers, nonprofit leaders and corporate partners, and focuses on fostering professional relationships that make a real impact in the community.

To combat systemic inequalities, Girl Scouts of Silver Sage place supreme importance on building community partnerships and supporting philanthropic initiatives. To do this, they partner with other area nonprofits, sponsor programs that empower underrepresented groups, and organize volunteer efforts that support people in need. They also offer scholarships and mentorship programs that reach marginalized populations.

Beasly said, “Girl Scouts of Silver Sage isn’t just preparing girls for the future, they’re shaping it. Their work exemplifies what it means to empower women from the ground up.”
