Boise is one of the best places in the U.S. to wake up to a cup of Joe, according to Livability.com.
The website recently released a list of 10 Unexpectedly Awesome Coffee Cities, and Boise made the cut, coming in at No. 6 for most everyone’s favorite morning jump-start.
Livability, a site that ranks America’s most livable small- and mid-sized cities, looked at the number of coffee shops in a city, average prices for cup of java, number of roasters in the area and, of course, the overall quality of life to develop a list of cities that are caffeine hotspots.
Boise’s coffee purveyors clearly are breaking up the daily grind.
Livability notes that the residents of Boise “deserve way more credit for being true coffee fanatics. There are more than 150 coffee shops scattered across the metro area catering to half a dozen universities.
“Many of the shops are local and feature specialty brews or even roast their own beans. The District Coffee House utilizes locally-roasted beans and its Nutella latte is a fan favorite.
“Meanwhile, Slow by Slow totally nails the third wave coffee scene with its focus on process and craft,” said Livability.
And Boise’s Coolest Coffee Shop, per Livability, is Caffeina Roasting Company at 4774 W State St., “where its brewery digs and industrial vibe earn major cool points.
“They also brew their own kombucha and make a brew-on-brew: an espresso poured into a local stout, which is a win in our books.”
