Pfizer has now notified hospitals and health care facilities in the state that the first shipments of its COVID-19 vaccine will arrive shortly.

“The first shipments are on the way and are expected to arrive in the next few days,” St. Luke’s Health System stated in an announcement on Dec. 11. Mark Snider, spokesperson for the Saint Alphonsus Health, confirmed that Pfizer’s had also directly notified it that the arrival of the vaccine was imminent.

The first round of vaccines is slated mainly for health care providers and emergency responders working on the frontlines of patient care. The distribution is directed through the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare and the public health districts. It is not available to the general public yet.
