Tracy Basterrechea appointed as Meridian police chief

Mayor Robert Simison has appointed Tracy Basterrechea as Meridian’s police chief. He has served the Meridian Police Department for 24 years. Working his way up through the ranks from a patrol officer, he has served as the Deputy Chief since 2009. In his duties as deputy chief, he has overseen daily operations of the police department and filled in for former chief Lavey.
