As part of a long-range plan, Idaho Power is beginning to plan its planning.

According to the utility, the first in a series of meetings will be held Aug. 29 which lead up to Idaho Power’s next long-range energy plan.

“Idaho Power and an advisory panel representing customer groups and regulators will meet online several times over the next year to discuss the utility-s 2025 Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), which will lay out the company’s preferred portfolio of energy resources to serve customers over the next 20 years,” the company stated in an email.

The company, which develops a new plan every two years, will be enlisting customers to help create the IRP through what it calls the IRP Advisory Council. The council is made up of “representatives from public-interest groups, industry and agriculture, as well as state and local lawmakers, public utility commission staff and other interested parties.”

Meetings will begin at 9 a.m., and the first one focuses on energy efficiency and potential deferral of transmission and distribution investments, Idaho Power stated.
