Shannon McGuire, founder of Supreme Moms, is an overcomer. At age 10, she was a veteran of community war and was angry — triggered by a violent environment, the loss of her brother, the Los Angeles riots and growing up in poverty. At age 20, she became a mom to two kids and lived with the uncertainty of what motherhood would look like. When she was 25, she moved across the country to a new state and began working toward healing.
Despite the hardships McGuire faced in life, she built a meaningful life and is making a difference in Idaho and beyond.
“I’ve had a successful career as a community wellbeing strategist,” she said. “It was not my original career path — because I didn’t really know where I was heading. My willingness to learn something new that spoke to my heart led me here.”
Having worked in roles like the vice president of community connections and vice president of operations for the United Way of Treasure Valley and the marketing and outreach manager for Boise Co-Op, McGuire was set up with the experience she needed to set out on her own entrepreneurial adventure. She founded FEED Cities, where she served for four years, and then in 2020, she launched Supreme Moms, where she helps moms and other caregivers reclaim their joy through coaching, community-building and training designed to increase family wellbeing.
“Above all else, I’m a mom,” she said. “It’s the most important role I play in my day-to-day life. This wasn’t always the case having started out my entry into womanhood as a teen mom. Today, I use my mom energy as a parent and strategist, coach, facilitator, mentor — and ultimately changemaker. Being a mom to me means walking with a loving and open heart — while having strength to lead, guide and endure the challenges life brings.”
In a letter of recommendation signed by 18 people, McGuire was described as being a beacon of inspiration.
“Shannon has consistently championed the needs of mothers, providing them with the support, resources and encouragement they need to thrive,” the letter stated. “Her work has not only empowered individual mothers but has also fostered the ultimate goal of a stronger, more connected community. Her passion for enhancing the lives of Idahoans is matched by her strategic approach to solving complex problems. Whether advocating for policy changes, organizing community events or providing direct support to those in need, Shannon’s actions consistently reflect her profound commitment to making Idaho a better place for everyone.”
McGuire said that she is inspired and influenced by her lineage and ancestors and is grateful to live a life that those that came before her only dreamed about.
“My focus and influence is on God, moms and unity — in that order,” she said. “This guides my goal of living in a world where eight billion people live more days feeling good about being themselves. To get there I believe we must reinvest in the power of moms, families and community. I’m grateful to be able to spread this work in Idaho and beyond.”
