Years in business: 32

Truly a family company, 1,4GROUP, Inc., has overcome many challenges to grow from its beginnings in Idaho to become a global presence in the potato storage industry.
Despite false patent claims from a competitor, access to critical chemicals, and regulatory scrutiny, the company has innovated and grown to serve not only national but international clients.
Darol Forsythe played a “crucial role” in the company until his death in 2017. The company is now owned by his son, John Forsythe, while his daughter, Jennifer Bills, is the company’s global marketing communications manager and son, Michael Forsythe, manages the company’s real estate holdings and its family ranching operation.
Along with meeting the company goal to provide products that make food safe, affordable and abundant through its products, the company also volunteers on a monthly basis at the Idaho Foodbank, and they invest in the El Salvador community where their packaging facility is located.
