A 60,000-square-foot building in Nampa has opened and will be the home of educational programs geared toward health care and science.
The College of Western Idaho (CWI) officially opened the Health & Science Building at its Nampa campus on Aug. 21 with a ribbon cutting ceremony and celebration of the building’s completion.
Classes for health care and other sciences will be centralized in the building, where before, students were commuting into Boise for certain classes. The building will house “advanced, industry-standard laboratories, simulation suites and specialized skills labs for programs like nursing, dental assisting and surgical technology,” CWI stated in a release.

The school also stated that classrooms will be “technology-enabled” and resemble real-world health care setting as closely as possible to ensure students are receiving realistic training.
“The impact of this facility will ripple throughout our community and health care workforce for years to come,” said Gordon Jones, president of CWI. “It’s a true reflection of what can be accomplished when education, industry and community come together.”
On the heels of the Health & Science Building, a new Agricultural Sciences Complex will be opened on Sept. 9.
