After nearly six years as its leader, Patricia “Patti” Perkins has retired as director from the Idaho Department of Finance.
Perkins, who retired on Oct. 3, was appointed to the role by Gov. Brad Little in January of 2020, having replaced acting director Mary Hughes, who had stepped into the role after Gavin Gee retired in January 2019.
Before taking on the director position, Perkins was running her own human resources consulting firm, Calyx-Weaver & Associates, “which is truly what I thought I would continue to do through retirement,” she said in a 2020 interview.
Talking about taking on the role, Perkins stated that she wasn’t the “typical candidate” for the director of finance. She worked for KeyBank in Idaho for a time, leading one of its locations before leaving the company in 2004 to work for T-Mobile for nearly a decade. She worked for two years as the HR director for the City of Meridian before purchasing Weaver & Associates in January of 2016.
“Her commitment to excellence led to significant improvements in operational efficiency and a notable increase in employee satisfaction,” a statement from IDOF read. “During her tenure, she served as board chair for the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS) District V, vice chair for the CSBS Education Foundation Board of Trustees, and was a valued member of the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors Regulator Board.”
Salvador Cruz has been named as interim director of the department as a permanent hire is sought.
