Garden City officials will host a neighborhood meeting later this month to discuss a proposed rezoning of properties near the Heron Park and Waterfront District areas along Adams Street.
The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22, at 5:30 p.m. at Garden City’s City Hall, in the Council Chambers, 6015 Glenwood Street.
The proposal, designated SAPFY2026-0001, would create a new Specific Area Plan zoning district affecting more than two dozen properties on both sides of Adams Street, between East 37th and East 38th streets, and along North Reed Street.
City officials stated in a public notice that the rezoning is required to support development of a site currently designated in the city’s Comprehensive Plan as a Future Planning Area ― formerly an Ada County Highway District operations and maintenance yard along the Boise River.
According to the notice, the Comprehensive Plan identifies the area as an opportunity to expand public access and river frontage. The proposal calls for regenerating the existing yard site to achieve higher and better use of the property, while ensuring compatibility with the surrounding neighborhood.
The proposal will face two public hearings following the neighborhood meeting. The Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a hearing on Wednesday, May 20, at 6:30 p.m., and the city council will take up the matter Monday, July 13, at 6:00 p.m. Both hearings will be held at the Garden City City Hall.
Residents wishing to submit written comments must do so at least two weeks before each hearing. Comments can be emailed to [email protected] or mailed to the Development Services Department at 6015 Glenwood Street, Garden City, ID 83714.
Those who wish to provide oral testimony must appear in person at one of the public hearings. Written comments submitted before a hearing will be included in the official record.
For accessibility accommodations, contact the city office at 208-472-2921 at least 72 hours before any meeting.
