New Boys & Girls Club facility in Meridian will have wireless network thanks to DIRECTV

Kids with tech2 The newly expanded Boys & Girls Club in Meridian is benefitting from a collaboration between DIRECTV, now a part of AT&T, and Boys & Girls Clubs of Ada County.

The Boys & Girls club is adding a new wireless network, said Kevin Garret, technology director at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Ada County.

DIRECTV is helping the Club expand its network and update the technology to accommodate iPads, wireless Internet, expanded technology usage and STEM programing with a $7,000 grant.

“Through our relationship with the Boys & Girls Club, we hope to motivate the next generation to develop a passion for technology.  Most of the fastest growing occupations in the future will require at least some STEM background,” said Steve Redd, DIRECTV Boise site director.
