One of the Treasure Valley’s bigger builders has taken a stance on safety protocols with a recent agreement.

On Aug. 11, McAlvain Companies, a third-generation construction firm based in Boise and a member of Salt Lake City-based Big-D Companies, signed a agreement with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in Idaho.

The agreement reinforces the construction company’s stance on safer jobsites, it stated in a release. The agreement will help McAlvain develop “a proactive safety culture, reducing jobsite hazards, and increasing educational and training opportunities” for construction crews.

“This partnership with OSHA is a major achievement for McAlvain,” said Josh Diamond, safety director with the company. “It reflects our team’s continued dedication to being proactive and going above and beyond compliance to ensure every worker goes home safely.”

McAlvain, founded in 1980 and providing a multitude of construction services, stated it would work closely with the safety agency to improve outcomes for its workers and industry partners, while promoting transparency and strengthening industry best practices.

The agreement is part of parent company Big-D Companies’ goal of continual improvement in safety throughout the construction industry, it said.
