Boise’s West Bench neighborhood is soon to be home to a new multifamily housing complex comprised of 212 units.
City, county and community leaders gathered at 1500 N Eldorado Street to break ground on Oct. 9 on the Dorado Station Apartments, which will be six stories when completed in the summer of 2027.
The building will have 55 one-bedroom, 132 two-bedroom and 25 three-bedroom apartments. Out of the 212 units, 10 will be reserved for people earning less than 80% of the area median, 180 for those earning less than 60% of AMI, and 22 for those earning less than 50% of AMI.
Twenty-one of the homes will be solely for Our Path Home, helping those coming out of homelessness.
“Over 200 families will be able to call Dorado Station home,” said Mayor Lauren McLean. “This is another example of how public-private partnerships are delivering on our promise to build more housing at Boise budgets. I want to thank Ada County and J. Fisher in working with us to bring these new homes to our community.”
The city noted in a release that once the project is completed, it will have reached more than 1,000 affordable homes being built since 2020.
The development is being built through a partnership between the City of Boise, Ada County, IHFA and J. Fisher Companies.
“Everything the Board of Ada County Commissioners does is grounded in the concept of community benefit,” said Ada County Commission Board Chairman Rod Beck. “Every decision we make, every partnership we enter into and every program we support revolves around what is best for our Ada County community. Ada County provided $4.9 M of emergency rental assistance funding for this project for long-term practical reasons. Rather than continue to pay monthly rents with that funding, the Board opted to do something more enduring, to benefit our Ada County community for years to come.”
