Applications open on Albertsons’ next innovation competition

With prizes valued at more than $400,000, innovative product creators have a chance at being one of three top winners in a relatively new but popular competition.

The 4th Annual Albertsons Companies Innovation Launchpad Competition began on Dec. 8, inviting creators of new and different products in the areas of “functional beverage, hydration, low sugar or carb, protein solutions, fiber enhanced products, global flavors, healthy snacking and ” to enter the contest.

Albertsons stated that companies which have strong strategies in the influencer and direct-to-consumer markets are encouraged to throw their hats in the ring.

“The [competition] is a powerful platform for innovative brands to connect with our merchandising teams for an opportunity to reach millions of customers,” said Michelle Larson, executive vice president of merchandising at Albertsons Cos. “Since its debut in 2022, the competition has attracted hundreds of passionate entrepreneurs, eager to bring new ideas to market. We’re proud to continue championing innovation and bring exciting, standout products to our customers.”

Last year’s competition had 600 applicants, the company stated. The top three winners were Daily Crunch, Supergut and Waterboy. It added that Daily Crunch, a nut snack, can be found at 1,680 of Albertsons’ stores across the country.

Sixty applicants will be chosen to present their products to judges. Finalists selected from those presenters will give a live presentation on March 3, 2026, at the West in Anaheim, California.

According to a release from Albertsons, the top three winners of the Innovation Launchpad Competition will receive prizes valued at more than $400,000, which will include cash and industry services. Winners will also be taken into consideration for distribution throughout the company’s network of grocery stores nationwide.
