Ada County Commissioners, Ada County Sheriff Stephen Bartlett, probation officers, judges, architects, builders and support staff celebrated the opening of the new Ada County Juvenile Probation Services-West on Franklin Road in Meridian May 16.

The building has been LEED Silver certified by the US Green Building Council, meaning it is energy efficient, environmentally friendly and healthy for its occupants. Ada County recycled 90 percent of the construction waste from the site and used non-toxic, odorless or renewable building materials.

The goal of Ada County Juvenile Probation Services is to keep children out of the detention center.
