Henry J. Eyring – Powerlist – 50 Most Influential Business Leaders in Idaho

Henry J. Eyring has been the president of Brigham Young University–Idaho (BYU–Idaho) since April 2017, appropriately making him the 17th president in the university’s history.

Eyring has been associated with Idaho since he came to Rexburg in 1971 as a child, when his father was the newly appointed president of Ricks College, which is present-day BYU–Idaho. He earned a bachelor’s degree in geology, a master’s degree in business administration and a Juris Doctor from BYU. He then spent time working in Massachusetts and Utah before returning to BYU–Idaho in 2006 to serve as the associate academic vice president.

Over the next decade, Eyring also held the positions of advancement vice president and academic vice president. He has authored and/or co-authored several books, including “The Innovative University: Changing the DNA of Higher Education from the Inside Out,” which analyzes the future of higher education.
