Most companies have departments that are integral to serving their clients. Product development, technical support, marketing, shipping and receiving.

But who supports the people who make the companies run? Whose goal is it to make sure the workforce is healthy and receiving the benefits they deserve?

That department, which doesn’t make it into a lot of headlines, is human resources. This is the department is often more associated with the principal’s office in school: The place you get called into if you’ve been misbehaving.

What many don’t take into account is that, beyond compliance, HR is the lifeblood of a business; making sure employees have all their paperwork in order, that they are listened to, are getting the most out of their time with the company, and can chart a path to success with their careers and beyond.
